Cohos Evamy and the Michael Evamy Scholarship Board of Trustees have announced al&d's Master of Architecture student Graeme Stewart the recipient of the eighth Cohos Evamy Scholarship in Honour of Michael Evamy. The topic chosen by Graeme is “Restoring our Modern Legacy: Discovering a Sustainable Future for Suburban Toronto’s Modern Tower Blocks.” Graeme’s proposal is to explore the future of the 1960s suburban Toronto apartment block that is becoming undesirable, lacking both community engagement and social geography. His study will examine selected international responses to similar urban problems that will allow for sustainability and intensification of the urban fabric responding to the United Nations Green Cities Declaration to provide “a clean, healthy and safe environment for all members of society.”
