24.03.15 - Nadia Amoroso's new book Representing Landscapes: Digital features work of five Daniels Faculty students

Daniels Faculty alumna Nadia Amoroso (BLA, 2000; MUD 2002) has released a new book titled, Representing Landscapes: Digital (Routlege, 2014), which features work by five past and current Daniels Faculty students: Matt Perotto, Megan Espenko, Nicholas Gosselin, Kaly Manson and Robert McIntosh.

From Routlege:

"Most landscape architectural designs now include some form of digital representation - but there is much more scope for creativity beyond the standard Photoshop montages. In this new book on representing landscapes, Nadia Amoroso brings together contributions from some of the leading landscape departments in the world to explore the variety in digital illustration methods.

In each chapter, leading lecturers, professors and practitioners in the field of landscape architecture explain a specific digital approach with the use of images from their department to show how each technique can be used in inspirational examples. Throughout the book, over 200 colour images cover the spectrum of digital representation to help discuss the various drawing types which are invaluable when communicating ideas in the field of landscape architecture."

Nadia Amoroso has degrees in landscape architecture and urban design from the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design at the University of Toronto where she has also lectured. In 2011, she co-founded DataAppeal, a company that created a software that has been “implemented in design and information visual communication courses, studios, and graphic design, landscape architecture, architecture and urban design curriculum.” Besides Representing Landscapes: Digital, Amoroso has published three books: The Exposed City: Mapping the Urban Invisibles, Representing Landscapes: A Visual Collection of Landscape Architectural Drawings, and Digital Landscape Architecture Now.
