30.07.15 - New exhibition at WORKshop Inc. asks if Toronto is "building too fast, too cheaply, and missing opportunities for real innovation"

On Tuesday, July 28, the exhibition Toronto 2020: Where Will We Live? opened its doors to visitors. Curated by Professor Emeritus Larry Wayne Richards, the exhibition asks questions and creates a framework for discussion about Toronto’s pace of development.

From the Toronto 2020: Where Will We Live? media release:

“Over the past decade, Toronto’s urban form has changed radically. Hundreds of residential towers have been constructed and hundreds more are underway. As well, a new wave of super-tall towers is transforming the skyline. Are these Toronto’s glory days? Or, as some building scientists maintain, are we building too fast, too cheaply, and missing opportunities for real innovation? Toronto 2020: Where Will We Live? asks these questions and creates a framework for discussion and action.”

Toronto 2020: Where Will We Live? is hosted by WORKshop Inc., an experimental design center located on the concourse level of 80 Bloor Street West in Yorkville. The centre was co-founded in 2009 by Kin Yeung and Larry Wayne Richards, and includes a product design studio, retail shop, and gallery.

The exhibition is on display until November 28, and it is open to the public Tuesday to Friday from 10:00am to 6:00pm and Saturday from 12:00pm to 6:00pm.
