03.10.15 - Alumna YouBeen Kim presents paper at international symposium on Architecture and Urbanism for Peace and Reconciliation

YouBeen Kim (MArch 2011) gave a talk at the international symposium: Architecture and Urbanism for Peace and Reconciliation, organized by the DEARQ Journal of Architecture. The conference was held at Los Andes University on September 14th and 15th.

The Architecture and Urbanism for Peace and Reconciliation symposium called for papers on "the role of architecture and urbanism within peace and social/environmental reconciliation processes in Colombia and around the world.”

Kim's paper DMZ-Occupying Territorial Paradox discussed her ongoing research into the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) along the border between North and South Korea, which she first explored as part of her Master of Architecture thesis with Associate Professor Mason White.

In 2013, Kim won an Honorable Mention for her thesis project in the MA Prize 2013 competition.
