Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of George Hawken on Saturday, March 18 from 2:00-5:00 at Regis College (100 Wellesley Street, West).

George was a visual artist, a master draughtsman and a printmaker specializing in intaglio techniques. His work addressed issues of the urban body, finding inspiration in literary themes and references which he pursued in series and folios. His work has exhibited widely since 1973, and is represented in many public, corporate and private collections, both in this country and internationally.

Alumna Ridhima Khurana (MArch 2015) recently published a calendar featuring photos taken on a field trip for ARC1012Y, a first year Masters of Architecture course. Taught by Associate Professor Rodolphe el-Khoury and coordinated by Associate Professor Shane Williamson, the students visited architectural sites within the Great Lakes area to better understand the environment, building, culture, and symbolic aspects of the sites.

March 30 & 31, PennDesign is hosting a symposium: The Inaugural Penn Landscape Dialogues. Assistant Professor Fadi Masoud (MLA 2010) and alumnus Fionn Byrne (MLA 2010) are among the participants, which includes a range of emerging voices actively engaged in advancing landscape as medium of contemporary culture.
