The Opening
Revital Cohen & Tuur Van Balen

Revital and Tuur will talk about their work and working, if one can be known from the other. They will discuss repetitions, iterations, permutations, situations, the spectres of twenty dead goldfish and a champagne coloured horse. From mining virtuality in DR Congo to constructing political realities inside Macau's casinos, from rehearsing an exhibition to choreographing an assembly line; the artists’ process based practice forms a point of departure from which to speak of friction, entanglement, porousness, reflection and self-implication.

Revital Cohen and Tuur Van Balen work across objects, installation and film that explore process of production as cultural, personal and political practices. As fine art fellows at the Stanley Picker Gallery at Kingston University their current research considers gambling as the contemporary condition. Their work was shown at the Renaissance Society in Chicago, Serpentine Cinema in London, Mu.Zee in Ostend, Fotomuseum Winterthur, Para Site in Hong Kong, Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary in Vienna, Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin, Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo and Congo International Film Festival. It is part of the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York and M+ Museum, Hong Kong. Read More...
