LAN3800H S
Instructor: Peter North
Meeting Section: L9101
TBD

This research seminar will examine current landscape remediation and regenerative technologies, investigating, testing, and expanding their design potential in contemporary landscape design. Conventional site remediation technologies will be reviewed, emerging practices will be researched, and new strategies developed. The course will be supported by lectures, expert visitors, case studies, individual research, and field work within the Greater Toronto Area. The research will be supported by an industry partner, who will serve as a facilitator toward realizing the outcomes of the course. The key components of this exploration will focus on the role of landscape architecture in the site remediation and regeneration process, highlighting how advances in phytotechnologies can inform more ecologically responsive, innovative, and inspiring design solutions for the adaptive re-use of disturbed urban sites.
