09.10.15 - Alumna Katie Strang and collaborator Christine Dewancker light up a lost river for Nuit Blanche

Last weekend as part of Nuit Blanche, Katie Strang (MLA 2015) and collaborator Christine Dewancker, presented To Love You Deeper I Look to My Mind’s Eye in Toronto’s Bickford Park.

The project lit the path of the former Garrison Creek (which once existed where the park now sits) with a river of LED lights and glowing paper boats.

“Although it has been buried in a sewer for more than a 100 years, the creek has inspired many plans and initiatives in the neighborhood, and is conceptually present for many residents,” says Strang. “It was amazing to see people respond to the work like a river, and naturally walk along it.”

Strang sent us photos of the installation (taken by Ricardo Jota) to share with those who may have missed it. Larger versions of the photos can be viewed in the gallery below.
