Our upcoming symposium, “What is a School? (of Architecture, Landscape, Art, and Urbanism),” kicks off with a keynote lecture on Friday, April 27 in our Principal Hall featuring Nader Tehrani of NADAAA & Cooper Union, Michael Maltzan of Michael Maltzan Architecture, and Shohei Shigematsu of OMA, with Sara Diamond of OCAD University as a respondent.

The event will provide a forum to discuss questions surrounding the design of learning spaces, the contemporary role of design education, the changing political and intellectual landscape of a research university, and more.

A series of lectures on Saturday, April 28 will explore the school as a political platform, the school as an incubator, and the school as a curatorial space. The symposium will close with a lecture featuring Mark Jarzombek from MIT and Joan Ockman from the University of Pennsylvania titled Designs on the University.
