18.05.07 - al&d students and faculty win 2007 OAA Awards
Congratulations to the al&d students and faculty members who have won 2007 Ontario Association of Architects Awards.
Jason LeBlanc (MArch 3) won a Concepts and Presentations Award of Excellence in the Artifact category for Living Light - Bioluminescent/Solar Hybrid Panel, developed in Brent Cordner's fall 2006 option studio, Biomimicry.
In the Proposals/Concepts category, Kelly Buffey (MArch 4) and April Wong (MArch 4) won an Award of Excellence for their project titled Skin.
Baird Sampson Neuert, the firm of Dean George Baird and Prof. Barry Sampson, won two Design Excellence Awards for Discovery Landing - The Waterfront at Downtown Burlington, and the French River Visitor Centre; 2006/07 Sessional Lecturer Margaret Graham's firm, Superkül Inc., Architect, won for Crescent Road House; and Fall 2006 Sessional Lecturer Steven Teeple (Teeple Architects Inc.) won for the Pachter Residence.
The OAA Awards offers the Ontario architectural profession an annual opportunity to present its work to a public and professional audience; it advertises the excellence of both individual award winners and the profession as a whole; it fosters a greater appreciation of architecture and architects among all levels of society, professional and non-professional.
One hundred and fifty-seven submissions were received and reviewed by three juries.
