Associate Professor John Shnier, and the work of his firm Kohn Shnier Architects, was recently featured in The Toronto Star and The Globe and Mail.
Last week, Christopher Hume profiled Kohn Shnier Architects' design of the Umbra headquarters in Scarborough (pictured above) as part of The Toronto Star's Beyond Bricks series.
"Kohn Shnier Architects, which designed the complex in the late 1990s, is one of a handful of small Toronto practices recognized globally for their uncanny ability to pull off even apparently unrewarding projects such as this with aplomb," wrote Hume. "Starting with a nondescript 1970s industrial heap, the architects reconceived it as a beacon, both literally and figuratively."

This week, Alex Bozikovic at the Globe and Mail wrote of John Shnier's apartment. "This is no ordinary condo, just as Mr. Shnier, who shares the apartment with his wife, Patricia Gaviria, is no ordinary architect," wrote Bozikovic.
