13.04.09 - Alumni Awarded Honorable Mention in Ryerson University RU Green Sustainable Design Competition

A group of alumni of the University of Toronto, John H. Daniels School of Architecture, Landscape, and Design have been awarded an honorable mention in a Student / Alumni sustainable open space design completion, put on by their undergraduate alma-mater; Ryerson University. The team comprised of Master of Architecture graduates Johanna Bollozos (2009), Davide Gianaforcaro (2007), and Philip O’Sullivan (2006), along with undergraduate colleagues Annamaria Perruccio, and Colin Berman were awarded the honor on April 7, 2009.

The team focused on the issues of integrating issues of public vs. private use, along with activating a space on the Ryerson Campus that has traditionally been underutilized by the campus and much maligned by the surrounding residents.  To address these issues, the team, branded: team sÜss, ventured to enforce a network of spaces on various plains, creating terrains that engage the physical and figurative notion of close quarter habitation of disparate parties.   All the while, the expression of sustainable design was made accessible in a graphic manner.  A light meter that defies the banal definition of quintessential sustainable technologies was at the forefront.

The meter, along with the other award winners, will be on display at metro hall from April 20 –23, 2009.
