On March 19, 2008, Professor Steven Fong, along with Will Alsop (SMC Alsop), Reed Kroloff (Cranbrook Academy of Art), Julie Ju-Young Kim (University of Detorit Mercy), and Amy Deines (University of Detorit Mercy), was a panelist at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Detroit.

Steven Fong has received a Graham Foundation grant for 5 Cities/Great Lakes. The project, an image atlas, will document the former industrial waterfronts of the major cities located on the shores of the Great Lakes.
