25.02.08 - Nazila Atarodi, Dorie Smith & Victoria Taylor recipients of 2008 Gordon Cressy Student Leadership Awards
Congratulations to Nazila Atarodi (MUD 2), Dorie Smith (MArch 4), and Victoria Taylor (MLA 3), who have been selected as 2008 Cressy Award recipients in recognition of their good academic standing and significant extracurricular contribution to the Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design.
The Gordon Cressy Student Leadership Awards were established in 1994 by the University of Toronto Alumni Association (UTAA) and the Division of University Advancement in order to recognize students who have made outstanding extracurricular contributions to their college, faculty or school or to the university as a whole.
In naming the awards after Gordon Cressy, former vice-president of development and university relations, the UTAA recognized his commitment to higher education and his leadership in fundraising and community service. The qualities of leadership and dedication demonstrated by Mr. Cressy during his six years with the university are also embodied in the efforts of students chosen to receive this award – students who are committed to ‘making a difference.’
The Gordon Cressy Student Leadership Awards will be presented at a special ceremony hosted by Professor David Naylor, President of the University of Toronto, on Tuesday April 8, 2008 at the Colony Grand Ballroom. Students will each receive a certificate.
