14.05.12 - Toronto's architecture has never looked better, writes Star columnist Christopher Hume

"Toronto's architecture has never looked better," says Toronto Star columnist Christopher Hume in a recent article published May 11. "Local architects have evolved to the point where they see their role is not just designing stuctures, but building a city," he writes.

Hume interviewed University of Toronto alumnus and architect Bruce Kuwabara of the Toronto firm Kuwabara Payne McKenna Blumberg, as well as U of T Arbor Award reipient Peter Clewes of architectsAlliance for the piece. He also pointed to the high quality work by local firms Montgomery Sisam, Diamond Schmitt, Hariri Pontarini, Quadrangle, and others as evidence that "architectural culture is alive and well in Toronto."

"Toronto has embraced cityhood," writes Hume, and "leading the way are its architects."
