11.04.13 - Jane Wolff presents "Hydraulics, Hydrology and Policy in New Orleans" at the American Society of Environmental Historians conference
On April 6,Associate Professor Jane Wolff presented the paper "Hydraulics, Hydrology and Policy in New Orleans" at the annual conference of the American Society of Environmental Historians in Toronto. The paper discussed New Orlean's failure to produce comprehensive structures for landscape policy, administration, and governance as it has physically evolved.
Wolff is the author of Delta Primer: a field guide to the California Delta, and co-founder of the award-winning initiative Gutter to Gulf, which provides information about urban infrastructure and ecology in New Orleans through its website, www.guttertogulf.com. Her current research includes projects on the cultural landscape of San Francisco Bay and Toronto’s landscape as infrastructure. In addition to her academic work, Wolff serves as a member of the Design Review Board of Waterfront Toronto. She was recently appointed to the board of directors of the Landscape Architecture Foundation, a charitable organization whose mission is to support the preservation, improvement and enhancement of the environment.
