Williamson Chong, a firm founded by alumnus Donald Chong (BArch 1994), Betsy Williamson, and Associate Professor Shane Williamson, was featured in the article Three decades of Emerging Voices in architecture written for the June 2015 issue of Metropolis magazine. Other firms mentioned in the article included Steven Holl, Tod Williams and Billie Tsien Architects, Eric Owen Moss and Toshiko Mori.

Wallpaper Magazine has also recognized the firm as a prominent emerging practice. They included Williamson Chong in this year’s Architects Directory, a list of 20 firms that they see as breakthrough practices from around the globe.

Williamson Chong is an architecture practice that operates at multiple scales ranging from furniture design to master planning. One of the recurring themes within Williamson Chong’s body of work is the notion of “Incremental Urbanism” which recognizes the possibilities of intensification latent in the morphology of urban fabric.

Chong, Williamson, and Williamson spoke about their practice and research at the RAIC Festival of Architecture, which took place on June 3^rd and 6^th this year. The festival brought together architects, interns, students, and associates to network, celebrate achievements, and discuss issues related to the practice of architecture and design. In a lecture titled Living Wood, the principals of Williamson Chong presented findings from their recent travels and research in advanced wood technologies, emerging fabrication platforms, and exemplary wood buildings.
