18.09.14 - Professor Liat Margolis joins Sustainable Canada Dialogues at the People's Climate Forum on Sept. 21
This Sunday, September 21, the People’s Climate March will take place in New York City. Concurrent events will be held in cities around the world, including Toronto, where a march is scheduled to start from Nathan Phillips Square at 1:00pm.
That morning, from 9:30am to 2:00pm, Sustainable Canada Dialogues, a group of Canadian scholars from universities across the country, is hosting the People’s Climate Forum, a mini-conference for students and other academics to discuss leading research and projects related to climate change and sustainability.
The Daniels Faculty is a sponsor of this forum, which will include a talk by Assistant Professor Liat Margolis on research related to climate change and cities. Professor Margolis’ own research focuses on how to better track and improve the performance of green roofs and green walls in Canadian urban environments. She is the Principle Investigator of the Green Roof Innovation Testing Laboratory (GRIT Lab), an award-winning facility on the roof of the Daniels Faculty at 230 College Street in Toronto.

Sustainable Canada Dialogues (SCD) aims to propose a range of science-based and viable policy options that could motivate change to help Canada in the necessary transition to more sustainable development. Through the mobilization of scientific expertise, the initiative targets the identification of positive solutions to overcome obstacles to sustainability. SCD was developed through the support of the McGill-UNESCO Chair Dialogues on Sustainability, and of the Trottier Institute for Science and Public Policy.
