Several members of the Daniels Faculty's teaching staff will be taking part in a series of public panels on the topic of public space in Toronto.

The four-part series, entitled "Where we Gather," is presented by the University of Toronto's School of Cities. Throughout the fall, influential designers, urbanists, and city officials will engage in moderated discussions on some of the most pressing issues affecting the ways Torontonians coexist.

The inaugural panel, "Public Life in Toronto," will include Daniels Faculty lecturer Alex Josephson and associate professor Alissa North in conversation with Ann-Marie Nasr, the city of Toronto's director of parks development and capital projects. The event will take place on September 17 at the Toronto Reference Library (789 Yonge St.), at 6:30 p.m.

The fourth and final panel, "Public vs. Private Space," will bring together Daniels Faculty associate professor Jane Wolff; Spacing magazine co-founder and Toronto Star columnist Shawn Micallef; and Park People founder Dave Harvey. The trio will discuss situations where private spaces, like bookstores and coffee shops, mimic public spaces. The event will take place on November 6 at the North York Central Library (5120 Yonge St.), at 6:30 p.m.
