19.03.08 - Jesse Colin Jackson and Luke Stern awarded 2007-08 Howarth-Wright Fellowship

message from George Baird, Dean:

I am pleased to announce that Jesse Colin Jackson and Luke Stern have been awarded the 2007-2008 Howarth-Wright Graduate Fellowship. Jesse and Luke will spend the period from May to September 2008 studying a series of Wright’s buildings, as well as visiting the Wright Archives at Taliesin West. Their study will focus on Wright’s pioneering of innovative building technologies and methodologies.

Congratulations to Luke and to Jesse.

The Howarth-Wright Graduate Fellowship is one of the Faculty's unique opportunities for advanced research and creative exploration. Established in 2000, the fellowship is awarded every other year to a student in the Master of Architecture program after her or his second or third year on the basis of high academic achievement, interest in the work of Frank Lloyd Wright, research skills in architectural history, and the overall strength of the research proposal.

Generously established by former dean and Professor Emeritus, Thomas Howarth, who died in July 2000, the fellowship enables a Master of Architecture student to conduct an independent research project on the work of the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959). The recipient is obliged to give a public presentation and/or present an exhibition on the research results. As well, she/he is expected to pursue publication of the research.
