This course stipulates that curatorial work is an historically evolving intellectual practice, governed by certain paradigms that it is the role of the curator to know, explore, question, and act upon. The course also stipulates that paradigms of curatorial practice must be tested and that it is subject to change on the basis of at least three key factors: evolving methodologies and practices within museum standards; changing perspectives on the history of art and culture; and most of all, critical developments of contemporary art.
