This seminar will explore the cultural and technical performance of past and future building envelopes through a series of readings, drawings, site visits, and analytical tools.  Frameworks of evaluation will include culture & traditions, affect, materials, structure, thermal performance, moisture performance, and embodied carbon.  Students will engage in both technical analysis and speculative design exercises.  Software and training in the use of building science simulation tools will be available.
