Introduction: May 10 - 12, 2023
Travel Dates: May 16 - June 6, 2023
Independent Work: Jun 7 - 16, 2023
Overview
This Summer Studio and Workshop investigates contemporary Athens as a living laboratory of urban change, testing contemporary theories of urbanism against different sites and itineraries, asking students to directly explore, document and navigate the city.
They do so via a series of routes focusing on specific Athenian commons –squares, gardens, walkways, buildings, monuments, waterscapes, and ancient sites – producing a set of composite drawings and images curated in a log, as a result of on-site documentations.
Following this, students focus on a single area, walkway and public space where they project collaboratively on a topic of climate adaptation, crisis, and resilience, on a 10-day joint workshop between students from Daniels and the University of Patras.
