Oak Bay: A Future That Never Was

This thesis presents an alternative future for a quiet, suburban neighbourhood, constructed with architectural fragments from its near and distant past.  Collaged together, the fragments prescribe a new architectural history, a Uchronia which exposes its past leaving it to be contemplated and questioned. Through the process of drawing, extensive research into the neighbourhood’s history is presented as a ruinous architectural landscape. This seemingly sublime environment begs to be explored, studied, and reconciled. The future presented is one of uncertainty. A permanent state of flux where inhabitants struggle to build a future amidst the looming presence of the past.
