Design Studio 1 – ARC1011

Architectural Design Studio 1 assists students in developing fundamental design skills, including the conceptualization of space through the manipulation of physical materials, the interplay between abstract conceptions of form and the accommodation and shelter of the body, and the interplay between abstract form and culturally formed elements of architectural tradition. Basic elements such as stairs, columns, spanning systems, and enclosures, are addressed. In this course, students are encouraged to explore the above mentioned themes through drawing and physical modelling.
