Efficient Figure
Figures emerge from the desire for visual impact. Towers in new city centers have this desire but often express themselves inefficiently by considering all exposures as equal importance in regards to visual impact. To create a figure the architect often first defines an exterior shape. The shape is the shell within which the program is contained. However, program components are typically deformed, sacrificing optimal configuration in order to achieve the desired figure. Computation design can radically improve programmatic and construction related efficiencies by ensuring the programmatic sacrifice happens only where needed by distributing figural aspects only in areas of high visual impact.
