Memoriae  Sequentia : Temples of the Last Stand

Memory is the medium through which history is experienced, formed by the alignment of time and space. The physics of gravity renders time into a material state. Therefore, architecture and memory become inseparable and no place embraces this as vitally as the home. Homelessness is a human condition. The mnemonic man longs to return home to the fringe of reality. However, dreaming of a new home is what drives him towards a brighter future. This thesis is a narrative composition and site for investigation into the architectonics of memory. This is studied as an interlaced tension between the duality of decay and perception. Temples of the Last Stand are tableaus of “Nostalgia”, “Amnesia”, and “Deja Vu” that explore the two parallel worlds of ruin and refuge. Their realities are separated through a respective interaction with a scanner — the body of water, reflecting independent yet connected memories for each world.
