A New Housing through Symbiotic Performance

What does high performance mean for multi-unit residential architecture in a dense urban environment? Can multi-unit residential architecture achieve a new type of net positive performance, providing both social and energy benefits for the building and the community? Is the overall sustainability of the project able to improve by creating distinct relationships between constituent parts?

This proposal looks at reconfiguring the semi-public and semi-private spaces in the context of light wood frame mid-rise development in Toronto in order to provide a better community for the residents of the building while also improving the life cycle sustainability of the project.
