Regenerate Openness

The concept of providing openness in kindergartens was first brought up by the open air school movement during the early 20th century in Europe. It has been seen as therapeutic for children suffering from poor air quality and overcrowding, eventually becoming an essential part of early childhood education. However, in Hong Kong, especially in New Territories where high-rise residential buildings have been widely built to accommodate lower-income residents, kindergartens are still commonly cramped on the ground floor of towers with nearly no access to openness due to the city’s extremely high density.
