Revitalization Plan for the South Gate Historical District in City Wuan

Rapid modernization is erasing cultural patterns in many historic cities around the world. Old districts have become a last place of refuge for those who could not keep up with the fast pace of urban redevelopment. The thesis proposes: the introduction of a new mix of uses to the remaining buildings in historical districts that are under pressure to redevelop, the adaptation of variations on existing housing typologies to enhance the living experience in such historical districts, and new retail uses on the high streets of such districts in order to preserve and improve upon the traditional commercial character of these areas.
